This is the North American River Otter.
It relates to me because they like being outside.

Freshwater Plant Adaptations
- Freshwater plants are flexible, which helps them in oncoming tides and prevents danger from the plant.

- Their broad leaves will spread their weight more evenly across the water surface, allowing them to float.

- Many plants have special structures to keep them from being carried away by the water.

- Some aquatic plants have stronged roots to keep them anchored securely.

Freshwater Animal Adaptations
- Some animals need the movement of stream or river water to survive.

- Some animals have suction-cup structures on their bodies to hold onto rocks during fast waters.

- Plants and animals are used to low salt content. They wouldn't be able to survive in places with high salt content.

- Fish need gills to breathe dissolved oxygen underwater.

Climate Facts
- There are 2 different types of freshwater, slow-moving and fast-moving.
- Fast-flowing streams have clearer water and a higher oxygen content than slow-moving water.
- Slow-moving environments support more plant life.
- Most nutrients that support plant life in flowing water ecosystems are washed into the water from land.
